Pre-Care Instructions for Microneedling Treatments
Before your microneedling treatment, it is important to take certain precautions to ensure the best possible results and limit complications. We suggest following these pre-care instructions at least 24 hours before your treatment:
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Discontinue use of any retinol or exfoliating products.
- Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, and electrolysis for at least 24 hours before your treatment.
- Do not use any products containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide.
- If you have a history of cold sores or herpes outbreaks around the mouth, notify your provider. Antiviral medications may be prescribed prior to treatment.
Post-Care Instructions for Microneedling Treatments
After your microneedling treatment, it is important to follow these post-care instructions for at least 24 hours after the treatment to see the best possible results and limit complications:
- Avoid direct sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher if sun exposure cannot be avoided.
- Do not use any retinol or exfoliating products.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, sweating, and hot tubs.
- Do not use any products containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide.
- Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater.
- Apply a gentle moisturizer to your skin as needed to prevent dryness.
