CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 laser resurfacing is a popular treatment used to treat signs of aging, skin texture, and reduce scars. This is a non-invasive treatment that uses a laser to remove the top layer of skin to be replaced with healthy, new skin cells. This treatment gives you great results with little risk. There is very little downtime and the healing process lasts about a week.

How Does a CO2 Laser Work?

The laser uses a very fine focused beam of light energy to heal the skin. In addition, it creates thousands of microscopic treated zones within the skin that cause heat. The heat produced helps target damaged skin cells without affecting surrounding healthy cells.

The heat energy produced by the laser stimulates the body’s natural collagen formation. It improves the appearance of deep wrinkles, scars, discoloration, and brown spots. CO2 laser treatments help with skin tightening of loose skin.

What Can a CO2 Laser Treat?

CO2 laser treatments can treat a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • mild to moderate
  • wrinkles and fine lines
  • sun damage
  • age spots
  • acne scarring
  • enlarged pores
  • uneven skin texture
  • redness

What To Expect During CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 laser treatments are tailored to the individual. We will adjust the strength and scope of the treatment to your needs without causing unnecessary damage or discomfort. The treatment can take anywhere between 30 mins and 2 hours.

During the treatment, a handheld device will emit short pulses of highly concentrated laser energy onto the target area. The laser uses a special sensor to track the size and shape of your skin’s surface. It penetrates deep into the skin to target specific areas with pinpoint accuracy.

It is the best treatment for reducing wrinkles and acne scarring while improving overall texture and tone. However, since this treatment is more intensive there is potential for downtime as your skin recovers from the procedure. Generally speaking, most people experience about a week of redness, swelling and flaking following a CO2 fractional laser treatment. If you’re looking for a less intensive option, chemical peels and the SaltFacial are good options.

Pre and Post Care Instructions for CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Please avoid topical treatments and medications that will increase the risk of bleeding 2 weeks prior to treatment. Afterwards, it is best to avoid sun exposure and do not pick the any scabs or dead skin. Read more detailed instructions here.
